Our Commitment

We believe that operating as a thrift retailer should go beyond providing high-quality secondhand products at unbelievable value. It should also contribute to communities and the environment while offering team members and customers an inclusive, engaged, and positive culture.

Community impact and environmental stewardship are intrinsic parts of our business model. We continue to strengthen the governance, oversight, and reporting process that support our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) program which is overseen by our Board and management-led committees.

By integrating ESG considerations into our business operations, we remain committed to our team members, good corporate governance, a strong compliance culture, and making a positive contribution to the communities we serve.

Environmental Commitment

Environment

Environmental Impact
The textile and apparel industry is resource-intensive and generates significant waste.

In the U.S., the average person discards approximately 81 pounds of clothing each year, 95% of which could have been reused or repurposed.1

<1% of the material used to produce new clothing is recycled into new clothing, making reuse an important component of mitigating the environmental impacts of the textile industry.2

As a leader in the for-profit thrift industry, we help keep reusable clothing, household goods, and other items in circulation thorough our sourcing and retail model, reducing waste and supporting a more circular economy.

Environmental Reporting & Disclosure

We are committed to transparent reporting and continuously seek to enhance the quality, consistency, and reliability of our environmental disclosures. Additional information regarding our greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventory, methodology, independent assurance activities, and climate-related reporting is available below.

Basis of Reporting & GHG Methodology

Our Basis of Reporting & GHG Methodology describes the methodologies, organizational boundaries, assumptions, estimation approaches, and data sources used to prepare our GHG emissions inventory. It also outlines the scope of the GHG metrics subject to independent assurance.

The document accompanies our 2026 Impact and Sustainability Report and provides additional information regarding the preparation and reporting of our Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions inventory.

Basis of Reporting

Independent Assurance

As part of our commitment to transparent reporting, ERM Certification and Verification Services (ERM CVS) provided independent limited assurance over select 2025 Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions metrics. The assurance engagement was conducted in accordance with recognized assurance standards and our Basis of Reporting.

Independent Assurance Report

Climate-Related Risks & Opportunities

In 2026, we published our first Climate-related Risks and Opportunities Report. The report describes our approach to identifying, assessing, and managing climate-related risks and opportunities, and outlines the governance structures and risk management processes that support these efforts. The report was prepared using the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) as a guide and is designed to satisfy California SB 261 disclosure requirements.
